چکیده

SUMMARY Nicotine polacrilex (CAS-No. 96055-45-7) can be used as the source of nicotine in pouches and other oral delivery products such lozenges, tablets, gums. The compound is salt with Amberlite IRP64, a copolymer methacrylic acid divinylbenzene. Present study describes unique procedure to identify presence evaluate its level. In products, mixture ingredients microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), maltitol, sweeteners, flavors, salts (such Na 2 CO 3 , NaHCO ), water, etc. These make analysis by spectroscopic techniques IR or Raman difficult. Also, since insoluble common solvents, using solutions not possible. also attempting detect if product contains only it has additional different form (e.g., tartrate). uses pyrolysis-GC/MS (Py-GC/MS) detection quantitation based on measuring pyrolysis divinylbenzene (DVB) moiety from IRP64. was proven very reliable this procedure, while showed some variability caused typical process. Global surveillance of oral tobacco products: total nicotine, unionised nicotine and tobacco-specific N-nitrosamines.

OBJECTIVE Oral tobacco products contain nicotine and carcinogenic tobacco-specific N-nitrosamines (TSNAs) that can be absorbed through the oral mucosa. The aim of this study was to determine typical pH ranges and concentrations of total nicotine, unionised nicotine (the most readily absorbed form) and five TSNAs in selected oral tobacco products distributed globally. METHODS A total of 53 ora...
